When I was a young lad of about 100 years, I decided that I wanted to be a member of the Fayguard for Kelethin. I was accepted into the academy and was trained by a man named Ganedil Vie. After about two days I realized that it simply wasn't for me. The Fayguard put too much emphasis on fighting in heavy armor, discipline, marching in formation and other non-sense like that. The animals of the forest are all excellent at fighting and defending themselves without having to march in formation and drill all the time.
Ganedil was a kind man, even for a military minded person and saw that I simply wasn't cut out to be a member of the Fayguard. He told me it was noble to be a vegetarian, pacifist who hates to wear armor and who chooses words over fighting but that those qualities weren't what made a good guard and defender of cities.
He released me from my commitments to the academy and directed me to inquire of
Faydark's Champions. He said that their philosophy was a little closer to my own and thus maybe they would accept me. I never saw Ganedil after that day, as he disappeared some months later. I heard rumors that Ganedil was an assumed name and that he is still around today, using his real name once again. I wish I knew what it was…
Anyway, I was accepted by Faydark's Champions and found it much more to my liking then the military. I have enjoyed the path of the Ranger immensely and the freedom that comes from making your home where ever you lay your head.
