Reinforcements for The Tunarean Regiment

Verant/SOE

You say, 'Hail, Staff Sergeant Drioc' You say, 'I am looking for work.' You say, 'Hail Lieutenant Krofer.'

Lieutenant Krofer says, Unless you are the new mercenary reinforcements I suggest you remove yourself from my presence before I decorate the bottom of my boot with your intestines.'

Lieutenant Krofer says, 'Drioc sent you? I suppose one cannot expect much from a mercenary. Well then, (player name), your first assignment will be to clear out some of this forest's annoying populace. Bring me the meat of one of the raptors, the meat of two panthers, and the remains of one of those living puddles of black sludge found in the caves. You will then have your payment.

Lieutenant Krofer says, 'Well, I suppose you may be worth something more than fodder after all. Here is your payment. Speak to me again when you are ready for your next assignment. For now, get some rest, you will need it.'

You say, 'I'm ready for my next assignment.'

Lieutenant Krofer says, 'Well, ready or not, this must be done now. Out there in the forest are our enemies. For us to be successful, we must know what they are doing and how they are going about it. Our probing attacks have revealed little so we've decided to send you out to gather any info you can. There must be some sort of messenger out there, bring any info you might find.'

Lieutenant Krofer says, 'Excellent, (Player Name). With this we can plan an attack that might actually accomplish something. Here is your payment. You have also earned this cloak, it should help protect you from the clawing undergrowth of this savage land. Your next mission will be more complex and dangerous, however we may be able to spare a laborer or two to assist you. Rest now, and tell me when you are prepared.'

You say, 'I am prepared'.

Lieutenant Krofer says, 'Very well. We've decided to attack the small Sifaye village northeast of here and I want you to coordinate the attack. I will send you into Kael Drakkel with a request for troop assistance. After the squad is assembled you will lead them to the staging point where you will oversee the battle. Here is the request. Take it to Drioc in the city and return here with the troops.

Lieutenant Krofer says, 'Failure! Incompetence! The whole squad annihilated! I knew this would happen if left in the hands of a worthless mercenary! Well, you can take this report back to Drioc then. Now get out of my sight, mercenary.'

Corporal Hlash says, 'Destroy them!'

Berzerker Voldak says, 'Lieutenant! Look! Where did they come from?! We're d... AARRGH!'

Corporal Hlash says, 'Grraaaggh! Ambush! Die well!'

Lieutenant Krofer says, 'Failure! Incompetence! The whole squad annihilated! I knew this would happen if left in the hands of a worthless mercenary! Well, you can take this report back to Drioc then. Now get out of my sight, mercenary.'

You say, 'What plane of existence?'

Noble Helssen says, 'Our soldiers fell victim to the denizens of that plane and unless we can find some way to stop this from happening, the land of Wakening will never be under our control. Many have suggested just destroying the Nexus but they are short-sighted fools. My vision is not only to control the resources that forest provides, but also to control the very force of Growth itself! You will help me do this, mercenary.'

You say, 'How can I help you?'

Noble Helssen says, 'The tablet I have given you is inscribed with runes of binding. I am owed a favor and it has come time to use it. Their is a venerable sea turtle that lives along the warmer part of the coast, there the ice floes begin to break up. His name is Corudoth. Find him and speak with him. Remind him of his obligation to me and if he is not forthcoming in his answer, tell him he owes me. Then show him the tablet. He will tell you what to do. He will most likely be beneath the ocean. The mask I gave you should help.'

You say, 'Hail Corudoth'

You say, 'You owe Helssen, help me with his plans.'

Corudoth says, 'What?! I owe him nothing.! Nothing at all! I didn't ask him to.., err. What proof do you have? How do I know he sent you? Bah, leave me, (Player Race).'

You say, 'What great foes?'

Corudoth says 'Yes. One of note was the vile and evil sorcerer Rosh. A better example of depravity and anti-morality I cannot think of. He researched magics destined to end all life on this cold chunk of rock and snow. We made it our mission to destroy him. In the end we defeated him, but alas our friend and comrade was slain. Poor Abrams was left cursed forever to wander that spire of ultimate loathing, the Tower of Frozen Shadow.'

You say, 'Who is Abrams?'

Corudoth says 'Abrams was a brave warrior and a good friend. His great maul could always be counted on to strike true as he used his body to shield others from greivous wounds. He sacrificed himself to save us from the eternal suffering he now endures up in that dark tower. The book you now seek, is in his possesion. You must first destroy his tormented form to free him from his madness. Tell him you seek the Arcanum and then give him the lock of hair I just gave you. You also will need the key.'

You say, 'What key?'

Corudoth says 'We ambushed Rosh on an expedition into the cursed Tower. When we faced him, Abrams ran forward and grabbed the Arcanum. He held it to his chest as lightning and flame rained down upon him. With Rosh busy trying to save his book it gave Petcas and I enough time to strike Rosh down. We went to Abrams and found our friend left a smoking pile of Coldain ruin. He underwent a strange transformation in which the Arcanum was lost. We decided Petcas should keep the key.'

You say, 'Who is Petcas?'

Corudoth says 'Petcas has retired from the life of an adventurer as I have. I would not tell you where he is as he is a good friend, but what I owe Helssen is stronger than comraderie or even friendship so I must comply; it is the word of Veeshan. Petcas now owns a small bar in the Coldain city of Thurgadin. To get the key you must fight your way into the city and kill Petcas. I wish you a most horrendous death Dark Elf. Now leave me to my sleep.'

Noble Helssen says "Ahhh, you surprise me mercenary. You have found the book as well as the key to open it. I must begin my research as soon as possible. But first, your reward. With this voucher, you can receive 1 of the three treasures I will offer you. If given to Kellek, you will receive an item worthy of a hearty and rugged combatant. If given go Wenglawks you will acquire an item to be worn by only the most pious. And if given to me I will give you a sorcerous trinket of my own design. **READ THIS LINE CAREFULLY**

Kellek Felhammer says, 'So you are the mercenary I have been hearing about! Not what I expected. Anyways, here is your reward. Carry it well. Also, this noble's seal will prove your loyalty to anyone who is skeptical.'

Noble Helssen says, 'Excellent choice, Gnome. Competence and a sense of style. When we are ready to take the Wakening I will most definitely welcome your participation. Here is your reward.'
