The Icestar Remembers

Verant/SOE

You say, 'Hail, Isolde Winterveil'

Isolde Winterveil says, 'The Icestar remembers much — but it is not whole. And so, some names fade. There is one… a good soul, long unthanked. His name is gone from my memory, but I've felt the echo. [Take this shard] of memory. It may stir something in someone who once knew him.'

You say, 'I will take this shard.'

Isolde Winterveil says, 'Thank you, Norrathian. Please [find] the one whose name is forgotten.'

You say, 'Find who?'

Isolde Winterveil says, 'I remember snow. Mountains... no — hills. A patrol along an old road. He served without praise, yet never faltered. There is a guard in the hills that surround Qeynos. I think his name began with an L? Lamet? Lamile? Something like that. Do you see how memory decays without the Icestar's light? Making it whole again is no longer a wish — it's a necessity. Before more names are lost. Bring me back anything that can help restore this memory.'

You say, 'Hail, Guard Lammel'

Guard Lammel says, 'I've wandered these hills for many years. Seen many things.'

Guard Lammel says, '...That mark... I haven't seen it in years. There was a fellow. Younger. Always volunteered for the winter watch. Shared his cloak with a merchant once. Dug out a buried traveler near Blackburrow without orders. No one ever remembered his name. Not even me. While the name escapes me, the memory does not. He [mattered].'

You say, 'Who mattered?'

Guard Lammel says, 'Thank you. Yes, If someone out there still holds a memory of him, he mattered for sure. The memory of him warms my heart once again. Here, take this broach - it was his. I’ve held onto it in my backpack for years now in case I ever ran into him again. Maybe you can find him now.'
